Oppose the FTAA & Corporate Globalization
In
recent years, representatives from 34 countries have been working to
expand the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) to Central America,
South America and the Caribbean. The Free Trade Area of the Americas
(FTAA) is another example of the free-market fundamentalism that has
created a global race-to-the-bottom that threatens workers' rights,
the environment, families' livelihoods, human rights, and democracy.
Once again, a sweeping "free trade" agreement is in the works
that puts commercial interests above all other values.

Stop a surprise
November approval of CAFTA! Say No to CAFTA now!
Lacking the support in the regular Congress to pass CAFTA, Bush and
the Republicans are intent on using dirty tricks to ram through the
extremely unpopular legislation. The special "lame duck" session
would happen in mid-November. Free trade backers have used the lame
duck session to pass controversial trade laws in the past, and are intent
to pass CAFTA as soon as possible. (Posted October

Keep Up the Momentum
Against CAFTA!
Congress will be in recess and members will again be in their
home districts from July 26th to September 3rd. This is another opportunity
to meet with your Representative and Senators about the Central American
Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA).(Posted August 4, 2004)
We Still Say
NO to CAFTA!
Last month, the trade ministers of the five Central American countries,
along with the US Trade Representative, signed the Central American
Free Trade Agreement. CAFTA, a devastating free trade agreement modeled
after NAFTA, can now be sent to Congress for a vote any time the Administration
wishes. The only thing stopping them is that they don’t
have the votes. And we need to ensure that they don’t get
them. (Posted June 24, 2004)
