Action to Support Naboa Banana Workers

1) Contact Noboa. Urge Mr. Alvaro Noboa to ensure that management negotiates with the Alamos unions in good faith and that those who violently attacked his workers are brought to justice.

Contact: Fax a letter to Mr. Noboa in New York at 212-957-6528 (although this machine is often turned off upon receiving faxes). Or mail to him c/o the Noboa Corporation, 555 W. 57th St., New York, NY, 10019. Or you can send an email to him at banoboa@bonita.com.

2) Contact the Ecuadorian government. Thank the Labor Ministry for its efforts to ensure the basic rights of the Alamos workers. Also urge the government to act on the recommendations of the Human Rights Watch report with respect to the broader changes needed in the Ecuadorian banana industry.

Contact: The Honorable Ab. Martin Insua Chang, Minister of Labor & Human Resources in Ecuador. Fax: 011-593-2-256-3469 or 011-593-2-250-3122; E-mail to mintrab@accessinter.net. Or contact the Honorable Yvonne A-Bai, Ambassador to the U.S., Embassy of Ecuador, 2535 15th Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20009. Tel: (202) 234-7200; Fax 202-265-6385; E-Mail: embassy@ecuador.org.

3) Have you seen Bonita brand in your grocery store? While we know of one retailer that sells Bonita brand in the U.S., which is owned by Noboa, it would be great to know others in the U.S. and around the world. Please fill out this form and submit it to US/LEAP of you see any type of produce with the Bonita label in your area - no matter where you are!
