Campaign for Labor Rights is co-sponsoring an exciting tour this
winter of workers from factories around the world that produce
for Wal-Mart. The speaking tour is taking place in conjunction
with a lawsuit against Wal-Mart
for breach of its Supplier Code of Conduct. To expose the glaring
examples of Wal-Mart's complete lack of corporate accountability,
the International Labor Rights Fund is coordinating the speaking
tour of Wal-Mart supply factory and farm workers. This tour will
highlight the gross injustices such as sexual harassment and forced
overtime that take place in Wal-Mart factories and farms around
the world.
The International Labor Rights Fund plans to feature workers
from Nicaragua, Honduras, Colombia, Swaziland, Guatemala, the
Philippines, and Indonesia from the garment sector, with the exception
of the speaker from Colombia who has been employed in the cut
flower industry that exports to the US. At least two to three
workers will be present at every speaking engagement; this is
a fantastic opportunity to hear different perspectives on the
pressing issue of labor rights, and to express the global solidarity
that is vital to our movement!
Dates are currently being reserved for events in the winter of
2005-2006. A Spanish translator will be necessary for each
event.
